Description:
The heartwood is processed under various distillations to obtain essential oil, floral water and attars or shamama. Tree of Sandalwood is botanically known as Santalum album and belongs to Santalaceae family, it is wild harvested. The parasitic tree is large and evergreen; it bears lush green leathery leaves and has brown grey trunks with slender barks. The slow growing tree mature after 35- 60 years and then its heartwood are broken and cut to make its products. Sandalwood tree is the only tree which is brought to use when it matures completely.
